MAXIM'S LOW-COST TRIPLE-CHANNEL VIDEO RECONSTRUCTION FILTER AND BUFFER FOR Y/C AND CVBS VIDEO APPLICATIONS

SUNNYVALE, CA-February 3, 2003-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX7443/MAX7444 low-cost triple-channel video reconstruction filter and buffer. The Y/C video inputs are filtered and summed together to produce a CVBS video output. Each channel's output stage has a video buffer capable of driving two standard video loads. These devices are ideal for anti-aliasing and DAC smoothing video applications such as cable/satellite/terrestrial set-top boxes, DVD players, hard-disk recorders (HDR), and personal video recorders (PVRs).

The MAX7443/MAX7444 operate from a +5V single supply and have a fC = 7.5MHz, ideal for NTSC, PAL, and standard definition (SDTV) video signals with a stopband of 40dB at 27MHz. The filter's Butterworth-type response provides a maximally flat passband out to 5MHz. High-frequency boost circuitry allows picture sharpness adjustment by providing +0db (MAX7443) or +1dB (MAX7444) of gain boost without degradation in the stopband attenuation. An external pin adjusts the video-buffer gain to either +6dB, +9dB, or +12dB to accommodate DAC output signals of <1V.

These integrated devices are low-cost, high-performance replacements for standard discrete filter and buffer solutions. The MAX7443/MAX7444 are available in the 8-pin QFN or 8-pin SO packages in the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $1.52 (1000-up, FOB USA).
